Concept Car of the Week: Dodge Deora (1967)
Fri, 02 May 2014Half concept car, half custom but all awesome, the Dodge Deora was designed by former GM designer Harry Bentley Bradley for the famous car customizers the Alexander brothers who wanted to build a radical custom truck using one of the Big Three's new cabover mini-pickups. They relied on Bradley's futuristic drawings to seduce Chrysler who eventually agreed to provide a stripped down A100 truck for them to customize although the final design shares almost nothing with the original donor car. The cabin was radically chopped and integrated into the rest of the body and – after its suspension was also lowered – the overall height of the Deora was reduced by a whopping 380mm.
Win a ride in the Honda FCX Clarity fuel cell
Thu, 09 Sep 2010CAR has a rather special eco treat to offer to one lucky reader – a chance to ride in Honda’s FCX Clarity. Not heard of the FCX Clarity? Well you should have because it’s the world’s first serious hydrogen-powered car (only water is emitted from the exhaust) and a few lucky Californians and Japanese currently get to lease one as part of Honda’s research, even though they’re worth about £1m each.
Jaguar: 0-75 years in under 4 minutes
Wed, 19 May 2010Jaguar are celebrating their 75th Anniversary in 2010 If Jaguar had reached the milestone of 75 years of car making even five years ago, playing the ‘History’ card would have been a dangerous game. The perception then was that Jaguar were living on former glories and their cars were stuck in the past. After all, the XJ looked to many as if it had changed little in almost forty years (although it was very comtemporary under the skin) and the S-Type looked even older.
