The Michelin Challenge Design 2013 competition deadline is fast approaching – you only have until 1 June to submit your designs. The theme of this year's competition is ‘HALF! Lightweight with a Passion', with entrants being asked to explore lightweight vehicle development by designing a family vehicle for four to six people.  The design has to adhere to consumers' safety and comfort needs as well as usability on current road infrastructure and production feasibility using modern technology, materials, powertrain solutions or manufacturing solutions.

Land Rover Discovery range to grow with new models

The Land Rover Discovery name is to be used on a new family of vehicles in a similar way to the Range Rover model range, the firm revealed at the Geneva Motor Show 2014. Currently used on the recently updated 2014 Discovery, the name will become a brand in 2015 as Land Rover broadens the range by introducing all-new model lines. Well this is a bit of a shock: Jaguar has announced that it is to start building the E-Type again, after production ceased in 1975. So much for the new F-Type proving popular… No, Jaguar hasn’t gone mad. It’s actually building six re-creation 'Lightweight' E-Types, with the aim of selling them to wealthy historic racing enthusiasts.
