The new Mercedes-Benz SLK, due out next spring, will be the automaker's first vehicle with on-board Internet access via its Command infotainment platform, AutoWeek sister publication Automobilwoche has learned from company sources. The updated Mercedes C class also is expected to offer Web-browsing capability when it arrives shortly after the SLK debuts. "We will then offer our own online services as well," a top executive told Automobilwoche.

Carroll Shelby recovering from health scare

Racing legend Carroll Shelby is slowly recovering from a recent health scare and could leave the hospital in the coming weeks. Shelby has been hospitalized after catching the flu, which turned into a case of pneumonia. Shelby, 89, has received heart and kidney transplants over the course of his life and dealt with a number of health issues.

National Corvette Museum offers free admission to service personnel in November

The National Corvette Museum is showing its appreciation for those who wear the uniform by offering free admission in November. All military personal--plus police officers, firefighters and their immediate families--can get into the Bowling Green, Ky., shrine to America's sports car by showing their service identification. The newly expanded facility features more than 80 rare and classic Corvettes.
