Tue, 25 Oct 2011Mazda Takeri Concept previews the 2013 Mazda6 The Mazda Takeri Concept Mazda are going to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show next month is the first public step towards the new Mazda 6, and the second instalment of Mazda’s new SKY technology wrapped up in a car heading for production, the first being the new C-X5, which will also be on Mazda’s stand at Tokyo. The Takeri features Mazda’s latest design language – KODO Soul of Motion – which is less of a caricature than Mazda’s current cartoon face designs. But the key to the new Mazda6 / Takeri is the SKYACTIV technology.

While there are some interesting examples cited in the piece, the concluding article, ‘Why Getting It Wrong Is the Future of Design' by the former creative director of Wired magazine, Scott Dadich, feels like it has particular resonance for car design. Dadich's Wrong Theory uses disruptive examples from the world of art, plus his own experience of working at Wired, to explain how design goes through phases: establishing a direction, creating a set of rules that define that direction and finally someone who dares to break from that direction.
