Historically barnacles, oysters and other marine growth have been growing on the uni bellows of sterndrives, which can cut holes in them during normal operation. This in turn causes expensive damage to the sterndrive via water ingress and possible sinking of the vessel.

Our product, which we call a “Protector,” envelopes the bellows and stops barnacles and oysters growing on them. This minimizes the risk of the bellows getting punctured and causing internal damage to the sterndrive during the normal service life of the bellows, giving worry free boating.

During servicing and inspection, the bellows may still look like new, but they should be replaced as per manufacturer specifications.

Barnacle Busters Protectors should be replaced annually during routine servicing.

Our products are not chemically treated and therefore environmentally friendly.

The Protectors can be fitted to Volvo and Konrad bellows in 20 minutes and does not require the leg to be removed.

Mercury and Yamaha Bellow Protectors are fitted whilst the leg is apart. Fully illustrated instructions are inside the packet.

We also have Trim/tilt Ram and Steering Ram Protectors for Volvo Sterndrives which reduces damage to the oil seals from barnacles etc. They also are very easy to fit and only takes approximtely 20 minutes.

Barnacle Busters Ltd have been producing and supplying Protectors for New Zealand, Australia and worldwide since 2001.
