Triumph Daytona Billet Clip-on Riser Kit - Billet - Adjustable - Brand New - Original list price $289.95

This is a "new old stock" handlebar clip-on kit that is labeled "Triumph Daytona 1996 and up." But I'm not sure what year "and up" goes to, since this kit was made some years ago. So please look carefully at your top triple trees and see if yours has two screw holes (probably plugged) just inboard of each fork adjuster, like the below pic of a 1996. Each bar in this kit mounts on top of the triple, and screws into those two screws.

All measurements are using a dial caliper and eyeballing the centers, so consider them somewhat approximate.

The two small holes on the bracket-top that mount to the fork bracket are 0.70" center to center.

The large hole (recess) for the fork-cap to fit inside of is 1.79" in diameter. The depth of the recess for the fork-cap is 0.50" deep.

The bars are solid, but the ends have been machined to accept bar-ends. The bar-end recess is 0.69" in diameter, and 0.185" deep. There is a threaded hole in the center, that "looks" like it is about 1/4" thread (guessing). The hole, minus the threads is 0.20" in diameter. Not sure if it is SAE or metric.

The bar bolts to the side of the cap bracket. Where you see the countersunk fastener, is the pivot point for adjustment, and where the slotted bolt is, is what secures the bar into the desired position.

This auction is for either one of the kits in the picture - either black or silver (one pair).

The label on the kit says Triumph Daytona 1996 and up, but as the kits were made around 2000, and I'm not a Triumph guy, I'm not really sure which later years they will fit. A an independent Triumph mechanic who looked at them thinks they will fit much later bikes (he bought a couple sets for his customers, one set destined for a 2002 Daytona). That said, if you are interested, I will measure what I can for you, to help you decide for yourself.

This is a very nice, USA made kit, made from solid billet aluminum. Even the bars themselves are machined from solid billet (not simple tubes). Black or silver (clear) anodized, the kit comes complete with stainless steel fasteners. They look to my eye to have some 5-10 degrees of adjustability.

Please note, they mount on top of the triple tree, and raise the handlebar position somewhere around 1" from stock. If you have raised your forks in your triple-trees (lowered your front-end) like in the above pic, this bracket will probably be in conflict with your fork adjusters, and you will probably need to machine the bracket's center out, to solve this. Not difficult at all, but it is something you may need to work out. Stock bikes should not have to worry about this. That being said, I am neither an engineer, nor a machinist, so you will have to decide for yourself if this is a good idea.

This is a brand new kit that has never been installed, still in the original packaging, and still with the original $289.95 price tag! There are only a few of these kits available, and these are being offered at a huge discount off the original list price is $289.95.

Please ask any questions before bidding. Hi-resolution pics on request. Good luck!

Also, I'll be listing some other Triumph Billet, and also some Ducati Monster, SBK, SS, Sport Classic rear-sets, clip-ons, and some other miscellaneous billet in the next day or so (billet kickstands, damper brackets, coffin-style brake reservoir covers, etc), so keep watching my auctions! All brand new "old-stock." And all USA made by the same shop that made the custom billet for Lyle Lovett's Ducati Monster!

Opel/Vauxhall Corsa E

Wed, 09 Jul 2014

If this fifth-generation Opel Corsa looks familiar, that's because this is more a heavy facelift than an all-new car.Opel has concentrated efforts on the eight-year old Corsa's mechanicals rather than an all-new bodyshell. Instead every exterior panel has been redesigned, alongside the entire interior. This is the first Corsa developed under GM Europe's VP of design, Mark Adams and his influence is clear to see, with the incorporation of the lower bodyside 'blade' surface and the pouting mouth of the Adam. While its proportions and upper body are clearly carried over, the new nose treatment in particular disguises the car's high scuttle thanks to the lower grille, lamps and diving shoulderline. The hood also gains a deeply recessed center surface that visually cheats down its height. In order to disguise the carryover glass, the rear of the five-door version's DLO now kicks up at the base of the C-pillar rather than running through into the rear, giving a stronger aesthetic.

We're pleased to announce the launch of the second phase of the CDN-GM Interactive Design Competition, which challenges design students in North America to create an exterior design in response to briefs from each of GM's four brands – Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC. This second, exterior design phase of the competition – which can be found at www.cardesigncontest.com – follows on from the previous interiors design phase and again challenges students to design against briefs set by each of GM's four brands. Remember, you don't have to have entered or registered for the interiors phase in order to take part in this exterior phase of the competition.

Volvo marks 50 years of child seat with inflatable design

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

IT IS 50 years since Volvo first introduced the rear-facing child seat to better protect children in cars. To celebrate this half century, the Swedish firm has come up with a new inflatable child seat that is easier to install and carry. The Inflatable Child Seat Concept weights around half of what a normal child seat does.
