2014 Vauxhall Meriva facelift gets new diesel engine
Wed, 09 Oct 20132014 Vauxhall Meriva facelift (pictured) gets new diesel engine It’s more than three years since the Vauxhall Meriva arrived – at Geneva in 2010 – as Vauxhall’s compact people carrier, so it’s time for a bit of a titivate and a few updates. The cosmetic makeover for the 2014 MY Meriva isn’t huge, but Vauxhall has thrown in a new grill and new headlights to fulfil the ‘new nose’ requirements of a facelift, there’s new alloys and new alloy options and daytime running lights. But the biggest change comes under the skin, with the old 1.7 litre turbo diesel being supplanted by the new 1.6 litre from the Zafira which offers 134bhp and 236lb/ft of torque.
Concept Car of the Week: Jaguar R-D6 (2003)
Fri, 15 Nov 2013Ten years ago Jaguar was still under the (s)mothering wing of Ford's Premier Auto Group. Its range comprised of the technically-advanced but stylistically geriatric XJ sedan, the golfers' favourite waftmobile XK8, the droopy S-Type with what appeared to be a lavatory seat on its nose and a Ford Mondeo in a bowler hat known as the X-Type. However things were changing in the back rooms of Coventry.
2013 Ford Kuga goes in to production
Mon, 03 Dec 2012The new (2013) Ford Kuga crossover – which debuted at Geneva in the Spring – has now gone in to production in Spain ahead of first customer car deliveries. Ford has announced it’s finally started to churn out the new Kuga at its plant in Valencia, and that the Kuga will be heading to Ford’s UK showrooms to get customer cars out in the new year. Despite starting production of the new Kuga, Ford still hasn’t come up with prices for its compact crossover, but says they will be available before the end of the year. On offer in the new Kuga is a range of new technology including the kick-to-open tailgate, Active Park Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring Torque Vectoring Control, SYNC and the first use of Ford’s EcoBoost engines in the Kuga (although no sign yet that the 1.0 litre EcoBoost will be added to the Kuga).
