The Toyota FT-1 concept would make a damn fine new Supra

A product of Toyota's Calty Design Research facility, the FT-1 concept shares some of the swoops and vents with the Lexus RC F. But there's a boatload of high-performance styling cues there, too: Take a quick glance and you might spot the front end of a Ferrari Enzo, the profile of the Nissan GT-R, the double-bubble roof of the SRT Viper/any number of Zagato creations and the oversized retractable rear wing of the McLaren P1.

But in order to cater to the growing number of contracts from Chinese automakers, Pininfarina will soon begin engineering and product development in China with a center in Shanghai's suburb of Anting. The charismatic Finn will be at the famous Goodwood event as part of a wider celebration of motorsport heritage in conjunction with the Festival of Speed’s recently-announced chief sponsor, Shell. As well as bringing F1 racer Räikkönen and supplying the ‘official fuel’ for the event, V-Power Nitro+ premium unleaded, Shell will celebrate the 50th anniversary of legendary British racer John Surtees’ Formula One World Championship victory with Scuderia Ferrari.
