VW to unveil Beetle Dune concept at Detroit Auto Show

The jury is out as to whether Volkswagen's Beetle Dune concept is more Frank Herbert or Bruce Meyers. Equipped with all mod cons, it’s a far cry from the simple, tough desert-race-inspired Bugs that popped up like aggro sandworms during the 1970s. And that doesn't include the powertrain, of which there's a clever-clogs new supercharged V8. The new Range Rover heads up a trio of renewed Land Rovers – and it'll arrive in August 2009, a few weeks before the similarly refreshed Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport.
