Rolls Royce at the Paris motor show 2008
Fri, 03 Oct 2008Rolls Royce at the Paris motor show By Mark Walton Motor Shows 03 October 2008 16:11 Nothing much happening at the Rolls Royce stand at Paris. There are three cars lined up: the enormous Phantom (still the Daddy); the vast Drophead (with its yacht-style rear decking); and the gargantuan two-door Coupe(launched at Geneva earlier this year). Electric car range drops by nearly 60% in cold weather
Sun, 23 Mar 2014Electric cars like the Nissan LEAF (pictured) can lose 60% of their range when it’s cold We already know that the range of electric cars reduces as the car ages, with Nissan conforming that the LEAF’s range will drop by up to 28 per cent over five years. And now we have confirmation that the ambient temperature can have a big impact on range too, thanks to the AAA, America’s equivalent of the AA. The AAA took three standard EVs on sale in the US - Nissan LEAF, Ford Focus EV and Mitsubishi i-MiEV – and subjected them to test in different ambient temperatures.
2014 BMW X5 M50d: Specs, photos and price ahead of November on sale
Sat, 31 Aug 2013The 2014 BMW X5 M50d (pictured) goes on sale November 2013 The new BMW X5 goes on sale in November – after a public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month – including the most powerful diesel X5, the 2014 BMW X5 M50d. Because the M50d is a bit special, BMW has seen fit to relay not just a pile of new photos of the M50d (above) but specific details on its spec and options ahead of the on sale date in Europe. Just as in the first X50d, the new X50d gets the world’s most powerful in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine under the bonnet, which means a thumping 376bhp and a planet turning 546lb/ft of torque, enough to sprint to 62mph in a very un-diesel like 5.3 seconds.
