This was sold as an accessory for many different cars through the years. I had a light like this one on my 1965 Pontiac Bonneville which I bought new, but I don't know if it looked exactly the same. I also had one on my 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk. Again, I'm not sure it was exactly like this one. The only thing different is probably the mounting bracket which would probably still work on most cars of the era. The lamp and cord mechanism would probably be the same for all cars. They looked and worked the same on the two cars I owned.

This operates on some kind of mercury switch that turns the light on when the trunk is open. The cord will extend quite a ways out, I believe it went to about 20 feet on my Pontiac. The cord unwinds and rewinds easily but I didn't wind it all the way out to measure how far it extends.

The Studebaker Body Parts book lists this under AC-30 as part # AC-2767 Trunk and Utility Light Equipment (consists of lamp complete with cord and reel bracket, grommet, cables, clips and connectors). The book also shows
  • 1312907 Trunk and Utility Light Equipment (standard equipment on Y, special order on other models) All 56-57.
  • 1323697 Trunk and Utility Light Equipment (standard equipment on Y-J6-J8-K7-K9, special order on other models) All 58.
Whatever is in the photo is all I have. The power cord looks like it has been cut and would require adding on additional wire. I don't have any other cables, clips, instructions, or box.

When the 2015 Ford Mustang GT comes out later this year, it will be able to order a Domino's pizza for you. Technically speaking, you'll have to have ordered from the company before, and have the app on your smartphone. Then you can meet the delivery driver, hopefully tipping well, in your driveway.

Kia K9 launches in Korea

Wed, 02 May 2012

Kia K9 launches in Korea Kia’s new range-topping saloon car – the Kia K9 – has launched in Korea and will launch overseas – with a new name – later in 2012. Kia’s most impressive – and certainly most ambitious - new car has launched in Korea and goes on sale today. But it’s extremely unlikely, even with a change of name from Dr Who’s robotic dog, that we’ll see it in the UK.
