Tungsten Ballasts For Racecar on 2040-parts.com
Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
This is a Tungsten alloy ballast for use as a racecar counterweight. It is used in racecars because of Tungsten's amazing density. Even though this block measures only 6"x 3 5/8" x 2 5/8" it weighs appx 35 lbs. As a point of comparison an exact same shaped block of lead would only weigh appx 21 lbs! A block of pure steel only appx 15 lbs! So if space is critical (like in a racecar) this is the biggest bang for your buck. The tungsten alloy is called Densalloy. The chemical composition is as follows: 95% Tungsten 3.5% Nickel (used as a binder) and 1.5% iron.
There is a small threaded hole on either end (does not go through the block) that is off-set by about 1/4" from center. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks! |
