This is Tiernay Turbine Model TT10-1 Gas Turbine with attached 10 KW, 28 VDC alternator (not shown in the photos but is included on the gearbox) mounted on a portable test cart with all instrumentation/controls needed to operate the turbine. It was built as a demonstration/test unit and has been operated very little since the unit was finished. The unit is fully self-contained and mobile with a small fuel tank and two 12 V lead-acid batteries wired in parallel. The TT10-1 runs at 50,300 RPM reduced to 12,000 RPM at the output shaft of the attached gearbox into the 10 KW alternator included with the sale. The alternator is rated at 357 amps at 28VDC continuously and 1000 amps for 30 seconds at a reduced output voltage. Originally designed to start military aircraft and ground combat vehicles like the M1A tank. The only thing needed to use this turbine in your project is fuel!
A set of three military manuals (organization, depot, and IPB) in hardcopy are included as well as the instrumentation wiring. A list of items included in this sale is as follows: - TT10-1 Gas Turbine - Teledyne Brown 10 KW Alternator - Starter - Gauge Set: RPM, EGT, Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature, Fuel Flow Rate and Fuel Pressure(on the shut-off valve) - Instrumentation Cabinet with gauges, throttle control, and operating switches - High and low pressure fuel pumps - Two fuel filters - Exciter for the engine igniter - Solenoid operated fuel shut-off valve - Two 12 VDC lead-acid batteries - Cart - Engine Electronic Control Module(EECM), microprocessor controlled (not wired in test cart) - Generator Electronic Control Module (GECM), (not wired in test cart) Also included is a brand new turbine wheel with shaft, never been installed in an engine. The turbine wheel by itself would be close to $1000. A box of miscellaneous parts is thrown in for good measure which includes a complete second gearbox. As with all turbine engines, this unit can be dangerous or fatal if operated improperly. It is your responsibility operate the unit safely and ensure that it is maintained. Due to the weight and bulk of this unit, I can only offer local pickup unless you can arrange shipping from the point of sale. Thanks for looking! |

Alfa Romeo Disco Volante returns to Geneva, this time in green and gold
Mon, 03 Mar 2014Just about everyone loved the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante by Touring Superleggera that debuted at the 2012 edition of the Geneva motor show. The curvy coupe channeled the design of Alfa Romeos of the 1960s, namely the Alfa Romeo 2000 and 2600 penned by Touring, while appearing modern at the same time. The concept, finished in red at the time, drew praise for its good looks, enough to make just about everyone forget what sort of monster lived under that svelte bodywork: the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, powered by a 4.7-liter 450-hp V8 good for a 0 to 60 sprint of 4.2 seconds.
Chevrolet Orlando MPV Paris debut
Thu, 26 Aug 2010The Chevrolet Orlando MPV (left) seems a bit bland after the concept (right) Chevrolet first penned the idea of the Chevrolet Orlando with a concept in 2008 (which you can see on the right in the picture above). That has now turned in to the production Orlando which will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, but it does seem to have lost something in the process of going from concept to production. Quelle surprise (well, it is the Paris Motor Show).
