Lexus Design Awards open for entries under the theme 'Senses'
Tue, 12 Aug 2014When we visited Milan Design Week earlier this year, the winners of the Lexus Design Award were a particular highlight – refreshingly free from automotive references, the work was in the true spirit of the city's celebrated annual festival. The theme of the 2015 competition is Senses, which opens up the opportunity for designers to explore sight, sound, smell, taste and/or touch. Entrants will be judged by a panel including architect Toyo Ito, curators Paolo Antonelli and Aric Chen, and Lexus president and former head of Toyota design Tokuo Fukuichi.
Huge 'barn find' Porsche collection for sale
Mon, 12 Aug 2013Here at MSN Cars, we often bring you pictures from the world's most exclusive car auctions, where the lots sometimes sell for many millions of pounds. But actually, there's something far more evocative about this collection of around 200 Porsches that are about to be auctioned. Maybe it's the unrestored and unpolished condition of many of the cars on offer.
Milano Design Week 2004
Mon, 17 May 2004In its 43rd year the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (international furniture fair) finally takes on a new, more encompassing name: Milano Design Week 04. The reason for this change in quite simply a question of numbers; the week long fair is no longer only a platform for furniture manufacturers to show their latest collections, it is an enormous manifestation of all that is designed from everywhere in the world. Therefore, and understandably, an event that hosts the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (home ware and furniture), Eurocucina (bathrooms), EIMU (office furniture), Tessile (fabrics), Salone Satellite (young designers), Dining Design, Designing Designers, Material ConneXion, and Street Dining Design deserved a more noble title.
