Third Tesla Model S catches fire
Thu, 07 Nov 2013Update: According to an Automotive News report, "NHTSA said it will contact local authorities about the latest fire 'to determine if there are vehicle safety implications that merit agency action.'" The agency had previously backed away from an investigation after determining that vehicle defects were not to blame for the fire in early October. Just after Tesla Motors reported a $38 million third-quarter loss and within a few weeks of two other car fires, a third Model S sedan reportedly burned on the highway near Smyrna, Tenn. The Tesla Motors Club forum supplied photos of the crash, which occurred around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, in addition to intense speculation on the cause of the fire.
2013 Range Rover deliveries start at JLR’s new Handover Centre
Fri, 25 Jan 2013The first UK deliveries of the 2013 Range Rover have taken place at Jaguar Land Rover’s all new Handover Centre in Solihull. The new JLR Handover centre is JLR’s answer to the experiences premium German marques offer buyers, with a new car collection becoming a real ‘event’ instead of just a bunch of keys and a quick chat at your local dealers. Buyers of new Land Rovers who are happy to cough up £1200 when they order their new car at their dealers can now take delivery at JLR’s all new high-tech building, standing at the Lode Lane entrance of JLR’s Solihull facility.
Concept Car of the Week: Pininfarina CNR-PF (1978)
Fri, 12 Oct 2012In the 1970s alarm bells were ringing in the energy sector as a series of energy crises and rising fuel prices spiralled. The car industry was forced to produce a new generation of more efficient cars and designers were putting new models through wind tunnels to optimize their aerodynamic performance to reduce aerodynamic drag. Some pushed the limits further than others and none more so than Pininfarina, which designed a car that slipped through the air twice as efficiently than any other.
