GM to invest $2 billion in 17 plants

General Motors said Tuesday that it will invest about $2 billion in 17 plants across eight states in the United States. "We are doing this because we are confident about demand for our vehicles and the economy," GM CEO Dan Akerson said in a statement. Mercedes-Benz replaces CLK with E-class coupe

After a 12-year run and more than 460,000 sales across two generations, Mercedes-Benz has replaced the CLK with the 2010 E-class coupe. Debuting at next month's Geneva motor show and with U.S. sales slated to begin in June, the upmarket two-door represents a departure from its predecessor not only in name but also on a technical basis, switching from the old C-class platform to a modified version of the structure that underpins the recently revealed E-class sedan.

Suzuki XA Alpha concept

The XA Alpha concept 2012 was unveiled at the New Dehli Auto Expo by Suzuki and its Indian collaborator, Maruti. Although little information has been released, rumors circling the show floor suggest that it is underpinned by the Swift platform. Similar in size to Nissan's Juke, the XA Alpha is pitched at India's youth market, although the show car's suicide doors and highly detailed lamp graphics are unlikely to reach showrooms.
