Mercedes has announced the hottest E-class you can buy, the E63 AMG S, will cost from £83,470 in the UK from June 2013. In uprated 'S' guise, the 577bhp/580lb ft exec saloon monster can only be ordered with 4Matic all-wheel drive in left-hand drive markets, but the UK gets only rear-drive cars. Toyota Prius points the way to design future

For a glimpse of Toyota's future design trends, check out the Prius. The third generation, debuting Monday in Japan, stays true to the line's role as a vanguard of futuristic styling and sports many new elements that will be popping up soon in other models. Chief among these are the sharply creased corners, the forward placement of the Toyota badge, a lowered grille and styling that Toyota's global design chief Wahei Hirai calls "free-form geometrics." The goal was to create an avant-garde, high-tech look that also screams green.

Italdesign Giugiaro releases ‘Timeline’ app

Italdesign Giugiaro has released a new app called the "Giugiaro Timeline", spanning the company's illustrious design history. Available for the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch (sorry Android and Blackberry users) the app enables design enthusiasts to check out some of the products the company has been responsible for since its inception in 1968 (the year the Bizzarrini Manta made its debut at the Turin motor show). Implemented by the Italian web agency Easybit, the Giugiaro Timeline for the iPhone and the iPod Touch offers the same features as the iPad version.
