Fri, 02 Jan 2009Mercedes CLS Grand Edition - Lots of Designo features The CLS had a mid-life freshen-up in 2008 to keep it on the ball, and we now see this special edition launched from today – a typical manufacturer response to a model getting near the end of its life – the new CLS, based on the new E-Class, is due next year. Despite its E-Class underpinnings, the CLS has never felt like an E-Class. Its looks are its ace – it is probably the best looking Mercedes for a very long time.
Jaguar cool in white at L.A. Auto Show with C-X16 & XKR-S Convertible
Thu, 17 Nov 2011Jaguar at the LA Auto Show with a brace of white cats Jaguar may not be going to the Detroit Motor Show in January (forsaking it for Delhi) but it’s put on a show in Los Angeles with a new white version of the Jaguar C-X16 Concept (XE) and the new XKR-S Convertible. The Jaguar C-X16 – which looks set to be the Jaguar XE when it arrives – conspires to look even more production-ready at LA than it already did at Frankfurt despite, as far as we can tell, nothing more than a new coat of paint. Some of the elements that seem unlikely to make it in to production – such as the rear hatch which opens E-Type like and the ultra-modern interior – are still present, yet on the C-X16 they seem to fit; it would be a shame to see them go for the production XE.
Intermot Motorcycle Show 2004
Wed, 23 Mar 2005Motorcycle design is a term that conjures up many images to different people. To the majority North Americans, designing a motorcycle suggests a garage where several enthusiasts resembling the hit TV show Orange County Choppers assemble bikes based on the Harley Davidson model, with acres of chromed after market parts and hand lacquered custom paint jobs.To many others no thought is given at all to how the shapes of the bikes on the street came into being. The reality is that the major motorcycle manufacturers employ professional designers and serious technology the same way as in the car industry does, even if the final product is so different.
