Simplification or complication? Mercedes shakes up its badging again

All four major model ranges will be affected by the revised nomenclature which is designed to make sense of the alphabet soup. It will now supply credit for anyone with a score of 621 or more on the Fico scale, the scale used to assess Amercian customers' creditworthiness (Financial Times)• The news means that 80% of US consumers would now qualify for a loan from GMAC – which should improve sales in the depressed US market (Detroit News)• Chrysler is being lambasted for taking out full-page adverts in the American national press thanking the nation for supporting its auto industry. But critics point out this is a fresh waste of bail-out resources, as pages in the Wall Street Journal – one of the titles in which the ad ran – reportedly cost up to $264,000.

Subaru adds Limited trim to the Impreza for 2012, holds base-model price

Subaru is keeping base-model prices the same for the 2012 Impreza, starting at $18,245 with destination, and is adding a Limited model to the lineup. The Impreza 2.0i Limited model starts at $22,345 for the four-door version and $22,845 for the five-door. The base-model four-door Impreza 2.0i still comes standard with five-speed manual transmission.
