Chrysler drops lifetime powertrain warranty, eases transfers

Chrysler Group is abandoning its lifetime powertrain warranty in favor of five-year, 100,000-mile coverage that's more easily transferred to a new owner. Spokesman Rick Deneau said the switch was made after discussions with its dealer council. The change is effective on all 2010 model-year vehicles.

But despite Victor’s legendary ability to schmooze finance from the most unlikely sources, it seems he’s run in to a bit of trouble with financing production of the Venator, so he’s come up with a plan that looks to be a cross between a lottery and crowd funding.

The next Camilo Pardo might hail from Lawrence Technological University. In the Designing for the Future contest, Ford Motor Co. and Michigan's Lawrence Tech are challenging high school seniors to compete for more than $75,000 in scholarships to the school's transportation and industrial-design programs.
