McLaren F1 prototype XP5 hits 240 mph The last few weeks have been a bit of a McLaren F1 festival on Cars UK. But then it is 20 years since the team that created the McLaren F1 was first brought together, as yesterday’s F1 photos and info from McLaren were keen to tell us. All that needs to be written about the McLaren F1 already has been, but one thing we haven’t really covered in any detail before is the F1′s top speed record of 240.1mph, which stood as the world record top speed for a production car until the Bugatti Veyron stole that crown.

The Ford Vertrek Concept - the 2012 Kuga & 2012 Escape to be The picture you see above – minus a few concept fripperies like the huge glass roof – will be the next generation Ford Kuga in Europe. It will also be the next generation Ford Escape in North America. Which means it’s a combination of Ford’s European Kinetic design plus some extra lard to cater for the US.

The McLaren P1 MSO (pictured) will debut at Pebble Beach 2014 It may be Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations in the news at the moment, but McLaren’s own Special Operations has been around since 2011, creating extreme examples of McLaren’s cars for deep-pocketed customers. And they’re back with two new MSO specials for this month’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The most impressive of the two MSO cars is, of course, a special edition of the already very special McLaren P1.
