Hyundai is no stranger to the coupé market and it plans to unveil another at the 2013 Detroit motor show next week - in the shape of the HCD-14.  No information regarding performance or pricing has been released yet, aside from a single teaser image, but a Mercedes CLS-type swooshing rear end won’t get any complaints from us. Michael Gillam's concept is a very fresh combination of cabover, big-rig styling cues, Hummer-like off road stance and a large dose of product design influences. His concept is based on the idea of integrating the load bearing structure of the bed into the side rails, freeing up space to increase depth and overall carrying capacity. The silver colored structure is not only separate functionally, but also graphically offset from the dark colored cab area.

Umea Institute of Design prepares for annual Degree Exhibition

Another end of term approaches and the Masters students from the Umea Institute of Design in the north of Sweden have just presented a preview of their final thesis projects. There are 22 graduating students in total, eight of whom are from the Masters course in Transportation Design. Transportation Design is one of three MA courses offered at the Umea Institute of Design - the others are Advanced Product Design and Interaction Design.
