You are probably already familiar with the following details pertaining to very early Model A hand cranks. However, just in case, I am providing information from my “Model A Judging Standards” book.

This OEM factory supplied tool was used for cranking the engine and also used as a lug wrench for the wheels. This lug wrench fits the early Model A lug nuts which were 11/16”.  It will not fit lug nuts on Model A's made from about Aug 1928 and later, as lug nuts for these cars were 13/16”.

This hand crank has a “FORD” script and as indicated in the Judging Standards, 1927 is the only year that had this script. It is located on the center member on the side facing the wheel when used as a lug wrench, ¾ the distance from the lug wrench shaft to the cranking shaft. The crank has an 8” throw and the two lugs that engage the engine pulley nut are oriented at 90 degrees with respect to the center member. These two details are also stated  as correct in the Judging Standards for 1927. The correct finish for this crank would be cadmium plated. It has, however, been painted black. The paint has been worn off due to some use as an engine crank, but there is no metal wear in this region. There is some pitting which is fairly uniform on the entire surface. The outside diameter for the 11/16” lug is 1 1/8” . The Judging Standards list both 1” and 1 1/8” as being correct for 1927.

Shipping is within the continental 48 states only.

Formula Drift readies for 10th anniversary

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

Just two weeks after selling more tickets than ever at its 2012 season-ending event at Irwindale Speedway in Southern California, Formula Drift announced special 10th anniversary plans for the coming 2013 season. “It's crazy,” Formula Drift co-founder Jim Liaw said of the series' and sanctioning body's first 10 years. “It's kind of gone by in a blur.” That would be because it went by sideways.

Red Bull do doughnuts on the Burj Al Arab Helipad to celebrate F1 title (video)

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

David Coulthard gives the thumbs up whilst doing doughnuts Sebastian Vettel may be cool, collected and composed behind the wheel of his Red Bull F1, but even an in-control German needs to let off steam when he’s just taken his fourth F1 drivers title in a row. So at last week’s Indian Grand Prix, Seb celebrated his title win by producing a series of doughnuts in his car on the finish line, much to the annoyance of FIA officials who fined him €25k for his celebrations. But the latest doughnuts by an F1 team won’t have the FIA up in arms (probably) even if the stunt Red Bull have pulled to mark their latest achievements will give anyone who’s afraid of heights the heebie-jeebies.
