I'M OPEN TO A REASONABLE OFFER

This auction is for an early vintage 1950s Nardi Steering Wheel with a vintage horn button with the letters AR.

1) From the looks of the hub and construction of the wheel, this is one of Nardi's early 1950s steering wheels.

2) This steering wheel and horn button were mounted on a 1940 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Graber Cabriolet. Of course the Nardi would not have been the original steering wheel for that Alfa. But at some time during the cars life, the Nardi was mounted to that Alfa. Below is a picture the 1940 Alfa with this Nardi wheel and horn button.

3) I realize the horn button does not have the official Alfa Romeo crest. Maybe Nardi didn't have the rights to use the official Nardi logo when they first began making steering wheels. That is just a guess.  Whatever the reason, the letters AR are unmistakable and a picture of the steering wheel on the 1940 Alfa clearly confirms this horn button was on the car. Beautiful patina and lots of history with this horn button.

4) The correct Nardi Torino logo is on the rear of the lower spoke of the wheel. There is no date and it is my understanding many Nardi steering wheels made in the 1950s were not dated.

5) The E. Nardi signature is not on the RH spoke of the wheel. It is my understanding that the many of the 1950s Nardi wheels were not signed.

6) The wood on this wheel is cracked and will need restoration.

7) The horn button fits loose in the wheel. I think there was a snap ring to hold the horn button in place. The snap ring is not with the wheel. I looked at another early 1950s Nardi wheel today which had a snap ring to hold the horn button. This wheel has the grove where a snap ring would fit, but no ring.

I have described the wheel as best I can. It likely will fit other cars, I just don't know. It is a real neat piece of Nardi history. E-Mail with questions. Shipping extra. Good luck!

Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 Review & Road Test (2011 MY) part 2

Sat, 04 Dec 2010

Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 - interiors get no better As we said when we reviewed the 3.6 Range Rover recently, you really can’t compare the Range Rover to anything else, and certainly not to any other SUV. Probably the best comparison is with cars like the Bentley Mulsanne or the Rolls Royce Ghost. That might seem a bit daft – after all, they’re huge, luxury saloons, not SUVs – but really, it’s the only valid comparison.

Sarah McLachlan teases upcoming Audi Super Bowl ad

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

For all the overt hyper-earnestness Sarah McLachlan ladled upon us during her 1990s heyday, we might not’ve noticed that the Canadian singer-songwriter has a sense of humor. A cameo a couple of years back in the excellent Aimee Mann-as-housekeeper episode of Portlandia suggested McLachlan’s lighter side and now this weirdly-captivating teaser for Audi's 2014 Super Bowl ad sees the Lilith Fair founder futzing around with her own image, imploring that the Doberhuahua is a misunderstood animal that deserves our attention. We assume that the morphologically-perverse Doberman/Chihuahua cross is supposed to suggest that the new A3 is both small and vicious.

Audi A1 e-tron Wankel range-extender EV trial begins

Sat, 29 Oct 2011

Audi A1 e-tron trial begins in Munich If car makers are going to foist electric cars on us, the least they can do is make them as useful as the limited technology permits. And that’s what Audi are doing with the A1 e-tron EV. The Audi A1 e-tron isn’t a daft BEV (battery electric vehicle) with a woeful range at the mercy of weather conditions, instead it’s a range extender EV with a small Wankel engine which kicks-in when the battery charge is used up to increase range.
