I have decided to sell this Cage I have been holding onto for many years for a project I have realized I am not going to do. This is a ultra rare Aluminum rollcage out of a VW Motorsports MK2 GTI Rally car from 1985 built by Matier. This was removed from the rally car so that the car could compete in rally again as the rules have changed and Aluminum cages do not pass tech anymore. I had planned to install this into a street MK2 Gti with a motorsports themed build but I have moved on from the MK2's and don't think I will build that car any time soon. I am hoping to sell this to someone that has interest in a rare piece of VW history. For full disclosure I do not have any paperwork for the cage to state its history but there are still Tech inspection tags on the cage so you can reference the rally, car and cage. I have this cage siting in the rafters of my shop and now I would really like to see this in a car getting shown instead of collecting dust.
The company that removed the cage cut the roof bars to remove it and between being removed and shipping to me the shop lost the door bars that were originally installed.
This is a really light but very strong cage that would be killer in some ones show car with the benefit of stiffening the car and making it handle better as well.
Please message me if you have any questions.
