The first of Audi's sporty production SUVs has arrived, in the shape of the 309bhp diesel-powered SQ5. It's the first S-badged Audi to feature an oil-burner plumbed in behind its prodigious front grille, though Audi is confident it's still every bit as worthy of the badge as its petrol-sipping brethren. Latest cars crash tested by Euro NCAP

CRASH TEST results have been announced by the European vehicle safety body Euro NCAP, after testing of the latest new cars to reach the market. Amongst the vehicles tested were the Mercedes-Benz CLA, the Jeep Cherokee, the Peugeot 2008 and the Suzuki SX4. Despite varying on cost and size, all four of the vehicles tested scored the maximum five star overall rating.

Microsoft demos Apple CarPlay rival

The battle between Microsoft and Apple is being fought on the desktop, on the smartphone and now in the car. At its Build 2014 developer conference, held earlier this month in San Francisco, Microsoft demoed an early version of Windows In The Car, its response to Apple's CarPlay system we saw at the Geneva Show back in March. As you'd expect, In The Car's design follows the look of Microsoft's latest Windows and Window Phone operating system pretty closely.
