Ferrari to revive GTO name

Tue, 16 Mar 2010

Ferrari is set to return the evocative GTO (Gran Turismo Omolagato) name to its lineup on a limited-edition, two-seat version of the F599 Fiorano GTB. The new car, conceived to run bodywork and mechanical components from the Italian carmaker's race-bound 599XX, is expected to make its public debut at the Paris motor show in September--marking the first time the GTO badge has been applied to one of Ferrari's road cars since the launch of the much-revered 288 GTO in 1984. Among the changes brought to the new car is a series of carbon-fiber exterior panels, a stripped-out interior and specially developed alloy wheels--all aimed at lowering the weight by 132 pounds from the 3,718 pounds of the F599 Fiorano GTB.

Hyundai Eon Launches in India from £3.5k

Thu, 13 Oct 2011

Hyundai Eon launches in India from around £3.5k No, reasonable though it would be to assume so, the Hyundai Eon is not a new electric car, but it is Hyundai’s answer to the best-selling small car in India – the Suzuki Alto. Launched on the back of a 900 Crore investment by Hyundai in development and production for the Eon (a Crore is 10 million Rupees, so that’s about £125 million) the Eon is a big push by Hyundai to make a big dent in the burgeoning Indian market. The Eon comes with an 814cc 3-pot 55bhp petrol engine – which won’t exactly have Indian buyers flying along at breakneck speeds – and offers properly decent styling, rather than the toy car styling of something like the Tata Nano.

The very good looking BMW 520d Touring We have what is probably the pick of the new BMW 5 Series Estates – the BMW 520d SE Touring – in for review and road test. It’s arguable that the BMW 5 Series Touring is the best estate you can buy. With a huge range of engine options there’s something for everybody, but perhaps the best choice for most is the car we have here for review and road test – the BMW 520d SE Touring.
