General Motors' MyLink rivals Ford's Sync infotainment system

General Motors is introducing a competitor to Ford's Sync infotainment system that will provide text messaging, e-mails, traffic advisories and other connected-car functions. The system, called Chevrolet MyLink, will let motorists link their smart phone and its functions--such as texting, calls, music or navigation--to the vehicle's voice recognition software, sound system and navigation screen. MyLink will be launched in the Chevrolet Volt and Equinox this fall.

An ambitious plan to increase Volkswagen brand sales in the United States to 800,000 by 2018--up from 213,454 last year--begins with a mid-sized sedan to be built starting early next year in Chattanooga, Tenn. VW has unveiled the New Compact Coupe at Detroit - a Golf Coupe Hybrid Yes, they’re one and the same, the VW New Compact Coupe and the VW Golf Coupe. The first is the teaser name, but the second is the reality. This is a Coupe version of the VW Golf and will come complete with a proper hybrid system and will sit above the Scirocco in the Volkswagen range.
