For sale is a vintage (1920's?) steel trunk tool box with spare tire mount. It was mounted on the rear bumper. Measurements are as follows:

  • Tool  box: 34" x 11" x 20"
  • Tire mount: 18" dia.
  • Wooden base frame: 36" x 14.5"

We are selling this box as is. It is rusty and dirty, but there are no holes in it. The trim around the wooden base is loose, and in some places bent. The two latches/locks are different. Don't know if either are original. Inside of the box is greasy.

This vintage car tool box was purchased from the son of now-deceased "jack-of-all-trades" who lived in Clarksville, Texas, in the early 1900's. Check out the many other treasures listed in my ebay store that were found in this box.

The Super Bowl's most refreshingly honest car ad

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

In 2000's High Fidelity, hapless record-store owner Rob Gordon -- played memorably by John Cusack -- opines, “What really matters is what you like, not what you are like." In the year 2000, I was 24 years old and was working on a punk rock magazine, an environment not dissimilar from Gordon's Championship Vinyl. The line made a lot of sense to me; it was a quiet, back-of-the-head maxim that informed much of what my friends and I did and how we saw people. It's a shallow way of looking at things, but for those of us who came of age amid the us-vs.-them liberal identity politics of the '90s, awash as we were in Public Enemy's political consciousness, the post-AIDS gay-rights push and the loud-fast feminism of the riot grrrl movement, there was a good chance that if somebody liked the things you liked, they thought like you and they were good.

Michelin Challenge Design 2014 winners revealed

The winners of the Michelin Challenge Design 2014 have just been revealed at a private event in Detroit's Renaissance Center following the first press day of the NAIAS. Chris Luchowiec of Poland was awarded first place for his ‘BOT' design, a completely autonomous transportation solution for relatively low populated areas. His concept is designed to address the issue of lone car commuters, traffic congestion and the generally poor experience of mass transit use.

New Jaguar XJ Supersport Diesel coming?

Sun, 30 May 2010

The Jaguar XJ Supersport TDV8 - expect it in showrooms in 2011 We’ve known for quite a while that Jaguar Land Rover were going to start putting a new V8 diesel in to their cars. The 3.6 litre TDV8 which goes in the Land Rover is a very good lump (made by Ford at Dagenham) with some decent horses and a nice fat lump of torque. But the introduction by Jaguar of the 3.0 litre diesel and its subsequent introduction in to Land Rover’s cars meant the 3.6 litre’s days were numbered.
