NYC approves Ford Transit Connect for taxi fleet

New York signed off on the Ford Transit Connect to be used for taxi service, paving the way for the nation's largest city to begin switching to the small van in place of the aging Crown Victoria. The move was announced Thursday after a public hearing; New York joins Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago on the list of major cities that have approved the vehicle for taxi service. The Transit Connect (and Taurus sedan) is approved for use now, but a Nissan van will become the exclusive vehicle in 2013.

The institution analysed efficiency figures for all new cars sold in the UK in 2013, working out the average CO2 emissions from the 2.26 million cars sold in Britain last year and coming up with a figure of 128.3g/km. Renault UK has produced adverts for the new 2013 Renault Clio that feature a ‘Va Va Voom’ button to transport UK drivers to the heart of Paris. Mired in the problems of over-capacity, a stroppy workforce and a world that has fallen out of love with mainstream hatches, the new Clio needs to sell. And sell well.
