Micro-Bronze Oil Filter, model 100-R.  Advertised during the 1950s, it touted its "scientifically designed" double cone shape made from "sintered 'bronze that breathes'" that claimed to filter out all the dirt "but none of the expensive additives" in the oil.  See the following URL for a Popular Science advertisement from May 1955 for the filters:  https://books.google.com/books?id=xCUDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA31&lpg=PA31&dq=Micro-Bronze+Filter+Corp&source=bl&ots=pbD_ejYUjz&sig=lDr-Klnv8rud3qRnfH9284hDsJ0&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjJisfbrO7KAhVHyj4KHVE4BGkQ6AEIHDAA#v=onepage&q=Micro-Bronze%20Filter%20Corp&f=false.  It was supposed to never to wear out or to need replacing and was guaranteed for 99 years.  A gasoline bath would clean it.  A real period piece of automobilia!

By Lokinen Motoring Issues 23 September 2009 17:35 When dad's old farina Morris Oxford could be bodged through an MOT no more, he returned home one day with an Old English White 'Woody' Mini Traveller. Trouble was, there were four of us kids, aged from six to 11. On shopping nights we'd sit four abreast on the rear seat, at other times I'd choose the rear compartment and a couple of pillows.

Volvo is working on cordless charging for electric cars

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

Imagine not having to actually exit and plug in your electric car (assuming you have an electric car to plug in), and instead just parking it over a special parking spot. That's the promise of a new technology that Volvo is working on, and if taken to the mass market once made commercially viable, it means electric cars will be able to recharge just by sitting over a charger built into the parking spot's surface. That would certainly eliminate the need for those bulky upright chargers that are spreading around the country.
