Original. vintage and used Datsun (Nissan) 2000 GT Roadster Crankshaft. It is Standard Rods and Standard Mains. It is used and there is some wear on the journals, but they are not turned, they are original size. It still has the factory nitriding, a hardening process done to protect the crankshaft when in use, done from the factory.
Brand:Datsun (NISSAN) Surface Finish:Nitrited, bare forged steel Manufacturer Part Number:12 "NISSAN SYMBOL" 25520 Warranty:No Placement on Vehicle:Front Country/Region of Manufacture:Japan

Up for auction / your consideration, is a vintage, used Datsun (Nissan) 2000 GT (1967-1970) Crankshaft.  It is used and it is not perfect, but very nice for what it is.  It is standard size on the main journals and standard size on the rod journals.  This one has not been turned, it has not been welded, it has not been repaired, and it has not been modified from stock.  It still has the factory nitriding process intact on it.  If you look at the journals, you can see this is a forged steel crankshaft.  The front nose where the harmonic balance bolt goes, is in good shape,  and the rear holes where the flywheel is attached are also in good shape.  They all could use a clean up with a tread chaser, but seem to be in nice shape for how old this is, 40 plus years.  It has been glass bleeded to clean up the surface rust that was on the counter weights.  Please review and carefully examine all the photos, before placing any bids on this item.  This is not a perfect item, it is used and there are some marks on it from use.
This is extremely hard to find in this kind of condition.  This is a used OEM stock type of crankshaft, not a aftermarket billet steel one.  The only ones I could find are the billet material ones sold right here on eBay for around $2500.00

The journals are used, but can stay standard on the rods and the mains.  This was magna-fluxed and checked out OK on the rods, mains, connections to the counter weights, rear seal area, and the thrust areas, before the glass bleeding process was done for clean up.

This is not perfect, but it is nice for 40 plus years old.  There are some scratches, scrapes, and marks to the journals, but it looks like nothing has passed through the bearing journals, there is no majors gouges, pits or deep scratches to any of the journals.
There is no modified areas on the counter weights, they are the same as they left the factory.  This is the same balance on it as it left the factory.

The only damage that I could find is to the rear of the crankshaft where it was touching the floor and has some rust/scaling done to it.  There is still a flat surface that the flywheel attaches to on the sides of this flange.

History: this was a spare crankshaft that was keep for  a backup on a 1969 Datsun 2000 GT Roadster.  It was acquired in the early 1970's and was stored in a warehouse up until now.
At one point, a stamp was put on the second counter weight from the front it is marked "RR 1747", I do not know if that means anything other than what it is stamped.

I will not be able to ship this out until Tuesday July 5, 2016, because of the holiday.  It will probably be shipped using USPS ground and it will be insured for the amount it sells for.

All the thrills & spills of F1 2008

Sat, 13 Dec 2008

The 2008 F1 Season was probably one of the best for many a year. Thrills, spills, arguments, back-stabbing, overtaking – you name it, F1 had it. But with the world’s economic woes currently biting at the heels of F1 (Honda leaving F1 being the first casualty) this could well be the last F1 season for some time that feels like a real celebration of the excesses of Motor Sport.

Mercedes-Benz's long history building dramatic flagship coupes started with the 1952 300 S, considered a “car for the world's elite.” The 220 S Coupe followed in 1956, and the elegant W111/W112 coupes ran from '61 to '71. Over the years, the 280 SE 3.5 Coupe, SEC coupe, S600 Coupe and CL class all added to Mercedes' reputation for building gorgeous, sought-after coupes. Now comes the new S-class Coupe, making its public debut at the Geneva motor show March 4 and arriving in U.S.
