Vintage 40's Federal Model 28 Siren Fire Truck Works Rat Rod 12 Volt Loud on 2040-parts.com
Derby, Vermont, United States
Here's an all original old 12 volt SIREN made by Federal Sign & Signal Blue Island ILL. Model 28. Serial number 2D15 and and little FD stamped on the tag too I think it dates to the 1940's or maybe 50's. It's a big one, weighing 23 pounds.Measures 11" long and about 9" at the highest point from the base. The main body where the motor is housed is solid heavy steel. The base and SIREN housing are cast aluminum. Both could be polished bright if you choose to clean this up. The chipping white paint isn't original and would easily strip for a nice and easy cosmetic restoration. The siren has been tested and works perfectly and is VERY LOUD. You want to use heavy guage wire when hooking it up as it draws some current. The bolt on the side is the Positive terminal and the ground comes through the base bolted to the vehicle. Excellent condition and is ready to install on your firetruck or rat rod....FREE SHIPPING IN CONTINENTAL USA ONLY. OTHERS AT COST. Guaranteed to please the new owner or I'll buy it back. FREE SHIPPING IN THE USA. Check my Feedback. |

Could Michelin’s Active Wheel truly transform the car?
Tue, 27 Apr 2010Cars today have evolved and been refined to an extraordinary degree, but carmakers – and car designers – are still always looking for ‘the next big thing'. Yet despite a myriad of recent technical innovations, ask the man on the street what is the problem with cars of today, and he'll likely reply along the lines of "they all look the same". Mass production processes, packaging requirements and safety and regulatory constraints are just a few of the reasons why it is hard to make a car that looks truly different.

Porsche plans four-door Panamera convertible
Fri, 19 Mar 2010A series of European and U.S. patent applications obtained by AutoWeek show that Porsche remains committed to building a four-door convertible version of its flagship Panamera, despite recent comments from Zuffenhausen insiders indicating the car had been canceled. The new car, depicted in official drawings that accompany the latest Porsche patent applications filed in February, eschews the two-door route taken by all of its upmarket rivals for a four-door body.
