Driven: Volkswagen Golf Mk7
Thu, 25 Oct 2012Walking up to the seventh-generation VW Golf, redesigned flip key in hand, you're in no doubt that this is a) new or – perhaps more importantly – b) a Golf. It's the "200 meter test" lead exterior designer, Andreas Mindt tells us and, while we're suspicious of the idea of self-conscious ‘iconic design', you have to concede he's right. A first look at the Audi TT RS plus
Thu, 09 Feb 2012Audi is taking aim at the new Porsche Boxster and its yet-to-be-revealed sister model, the upcoming second-generation Cayman, with a spectacular 174-mph version of the TT RS, pictured here officially for the first time. Called the TT RS plus, the powered-up coupe and roadster pairing is set to join what is shaping up as a formidable display of new Audi models--including the third-generation A3 and the RS4 Avant--at the Geneva motor show in early March. The centerpiece of the new range-topping TT is a tuned version of Audi's turbocharged 2.5-liter, five-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine as used by the go-fast TT RS, the RS3 Sportback and the limited-production A1 quattro.
Hyundai global design teams develop 'My Baby' internal project contest ideas
Thu, 04 Jul 2013Hyundai has revealed the designs submitted for its 'My Baby' global internal design project. The project – a biennial contest that started in 2008 – asked the carmaker's design teams to use ‘new thinking' to preview a future without technological or manufacturing limits. Hyundai designers from bases in Korea, the USA, China, Japan, Europe and India were also tasked with reinterpreting and developing the carmaker's ‘Fluidic Sculpture' design language.
