Here is an automotive accessory I would guess dates the the 1940's.......it is a mirror with a thermometer that measures 10' wide X 3.5" tall. It promotes "Gunter Brothers Nash Sales" of Pittsburgh, PA and has spaces where you could write in the mileage for your next oil change, etc.....I suppose in grease pencil or something of that time that would wipe off. There are 2 screws in the back, and apparently one has to drill 2 holes in their sun visor to install it. Note that picture 1 is upside down and that pictures 1+2 show a spot of silver damage to the mirror. The thermometer read 80 degrees at the time I took the pictures, and that was exactly the temperature of our dining room at the time.
PLEASE NOTE: I never realised how difficult it can be to take pictures of a mirror ! There are things reflected in the mirror in my pictures that are absolutely not part of said mirror. There is one flaw the size of a nickel in pictures 1+2 that I want you to see and be aware of, but that other stuff are reflections and NOT mirror damage !
This is one of the treasures found in our late Father's garage that I had wanted to keep, but what the heck.....I can't keep everything ! Please give this neat old auto accessory a good home !

French magazine L'argus de l'automobile has launched its 3rd European Design Competition , with the theme: "Imagine the convertible utility vehicle"
The competition has been run since 2002, asking students at European design schools to design original utility vehicles. The 2003 competition recieved more than 350 submissions from students of Europe's best schools of art and design. This year there are two major new features: extension of the competition to design students in the new European Union countries, and greater freedom for entrants, with a theme allowing more room for creativity.

The McLaren P11 has now been named - it will be the McLaren MP4-12C
Update 9/9/09: McLaren has now released full details and pictures of the McLaren MP4-12C
Update 10/0/09: Ron Dennis talks about the MP4-12c and McLaren Automotive’s future plans. But of course it’s about McLaren history, and more than a passing nod to its F1 heritage. The McLaren F1 cars are all dubbed MP4, but I think we’d prefer to have seen something like McLaren F2.
