More great pieces this week from another rural PA. estate. This auction is for a vintage Denali metal plate. This is being offered as it was found in the estate. It is in nice condition, and measures 3" by 6". Looks like it is some type of hitch plate, but I really don't know. The channel measures 2" by 2" to the outside. Please email any questions before bidding. Buyer pays actual shipping costs. Insurance will be included if necessary. Check out our other auctions for more antiques and other collectible items. PAYMENT: Ebay now requires Paypal on all items. Please email any questions on alternate methods. Payment is expected within 7 days of auction close. SHIPPING: Please be advised that the Ebay shipping calculator is only an estimate, and does not take into account such things as delivery confirmation, insurance, etc. I make an effort to only charge my actual shipping costs, even as shipping prices continue to escalate. On larger items, it is best to wait for an invoice to be sent for a more accurate shipping cost. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS: I CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CUSTOMS RIFLING, IMPORT TAXES, OR ANY OTHER ISSUES AFTER MY ITEMS LEAVE THE USA. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER HOW OTHER COUNTRIES DEAL WITH INCOMING ITEMS. PLEASE CONSIDER THESE ISSUES BEFORE BIDDING. Should there be any discrepancy in shippng charges, I will gladly refund the difference. REFUND POLICY: Most of my items come from estate sales and auctions, and I try to give the most accurate description as possible. Should there be a problem with any of my items, or if not satified, just send it back and a full refund will be issued. I will no longer issue any partial refunds, since I have no way of verifying if the claim is legitimate or just a ploy to get a better price on the item. There are plenty of scammers out there.

I drove it to Burbank airport. Hit speeds of 130 km/hr, or 80 mph with ease. I don't know why I have been reticent to go fast in this thing.

Worth a read: Wired's 'Why Getting It Wrong Is the Future of Design'

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

Wired has just published a series of short articles entitled 13 Lessons for Design's New Golden Age. While there are some interesting examples cited in the piece, the concluding article, ‘Why Getting It Wrong Is the Future of Design' by the former creative director of Wired magazine, Scott Dadich, feels like it has particular resonance for car design. Dadich's Wrong Theory uses disruptive examples from the world of art, plus his own experience of working at Wired, to explain how design goes through phases: establishing a direction, creating a set of rules that define that direction and finally someone who dares to break from that direction.
