BMW X5 trio spied testing near Spartanburg
Tue, 07 May 2013Autoweek reader J. Monroe spotted a camouflaged BMW X5 convoy somewhere on Interstate 26, which just so happens to run near the German automaker's Spartanburg, S.C., plant (one of the X5's production sites). Despite a strategic application of BMW's dazzling, swirly vinyl wrap, the lines of these X5s were identical to those on the models available now.
Concept Car of the Week: Chevrolet Express (1987)
Fri, 25 Jan 2013A fantastic selection of concept cars from the ‘80s were featured in Back to the Future II such as the Pontiac Pursuit, the Ford Probe or the Saab EV-1, but my personal favorite was the Chevrolet Express that almost ran over Marty upon his arrival in the year 2015. Before being a movie extra, the Express was presented in 1987 as another attempt from GM to adapt aircraft engineering to automotive requirements. GM had been experimenting with gas turbines for more than 20 years, dating back to the 370hp XP-21 Firebird from 1954, but that concept was quite primitive compared to its younger brother.
Datsun Go (2013) Datsun’s revival begins with new city car
Mon, 15 Jul 2013Ready, get set – Datsun’s resurrection is go. The Datsun Go is the first new car to wear the classic Japanese badge in 27 years, and will be built and sold in India as an easy-access budget runaround. The car is slightly longer, wider and lower than a European-spec Nissan Micra, comes in one five-door bodystyle, and will go on sale on 15 July 2013.
