Do you have a pristine 1984-1988 Corvette that you take to car shows as a "survivor"...but you do not have a set of the original OEM Goodyear tires that originally came with the car? I have just replaced all 4 tires for my 21,000 mile C4 1986 Corvette and the original tires are just too nice to trash. I know they are 30 year old tires, that's why I replaced them...but, if you want your Vette to be as original as a "Survivor" should be, then you need to have the OEM Goodyear Eagle P255/50VR16 tires on it for judging as that is what they may look for. You know Goodyear no longer makes these tires as they were used just for 1984-1988 Corvette and maybe several other cars...so few users now that there are but one or two manufacturers left for new replacement tires.

These are 30 year old tires, have just 21,000 on them with lots of tread, but show aging signs and are not guaranteed, nor even recommended for street use. But for show purposes they may be just fine...sidewalls have not been scuffed and all the original sidewall features are undamaged. Tread depth varies, but they are not worn down to the wear bars. Come take a look...I have 5 tires as a set for the one price of $150...that's just $30 each...sounds too cheap for something this rare to find. While these could be shipped [at maybe $25-$30 per tire...these are BIG tires!!], I am not prepared to handle the shipping and suggest that you come and look before you buy, and then pick them up yourself.

Concept Car of the Week: Oldsmobile Aerotech (1987)

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

In late 1984, Oldsmobile management had so much confidence in the potential of its new inline four-cylinder engine Quad 4, that a small team was assigned to the creation of the Aerotech, a research vehicle designed to demonstrate the engine's performance by setting a new world speed record. Ed Welburn, then assistant chief designer, was mostly working on the 1988 Cutlass Supreme but his passion for race cars made him the ideal candidate to be handed the assignment by Oldsmobile 2 studio's chief David North. Inspired by Le Mans racers such as the Porsche 917LH and Jim Hall's Chaparrals, he designed a long, flowing car that immediately seduced design director Chuck Jordan and GM management.
