Vintage Guide "glare-proof" Day/night Mirror Chevy/gm 1948/1949-1952/1953/1954 on 2040-parts.com
Portland, Oregon, US
Here is a vintage original Guide universal style interior rear view mirror. This one is the "Glare-Proof" (day/night) model that I believe were available as a dealer installed accessory for many different GM/Chevrolet models, most likely from the 1940's to 1950's era. This one has the painted back, but they were also available with a chromed back. It would work well for most any era vehicle with its basic design and universal mounting stem. The mirror measures about 7" long and 2-3/4" high. The overall condition looks excellent for the age- very clean, with no serious issues. It actually looks like it might be unused, but it does have some lighter age/shelf wear none the less. The chrome trim looks fine and the majority of the original paint on the back is still intact (most paint loss appears on the mounting stem). The glass on the mirror front looks good with no chips or scratches, while there is a bit of light vertical and horizontal hazing lines showing through in the background on the silvering. This is not real noticeable unless up close (as seen in the photos), but it's still there none the less. I've had a few of these NOS in the box previously, and even those showed a little bit of background aging with the silvering- so I would assume this is a typical issue with these. They do disassemble rather easily, so the mirror glass could be re-silvered for a restoration. NO RESERVE. Please see my other auctions for more VINTAGE HOT ROD PARTS AND MEMORABILIA to be listed shortly. Thanks for looking, Chris.
*AFTER THE AUCTION IS OVER, PLEASE WAIT FOR THE INVOICE TO BE SENT BEFORE PAYING SO I CAN CALCULATE THE CORRECT SHIPPING COSTS.
*I WILL STILL ACCEPT ANY FORMS OF PAYMENT AS ALLOWED BY EBAY.
*TO SAVE ON SHIPPING COSTS I WILL COMBINE AUCTION WINS (WHEN POSSIBLE), BUT I DO ASK THAT PAYMENT BE SENT ASAP ON THE FIRST INVOICE AND ANY CHANGES WITH COMBINED SHIPPING COSTS WILL BE MADE ON SUBSEQUENT INVOICES.
** I apologize for the following "fine print". I never bothered with this previously, but due to ebay's changes, it has now become a necessary evil:
- SHIPPING: Ebay now requires the shipping calculator to be included in all auctions. Please be aware that although the costs listed will in most instances be basically correct, these are not always accurate. Any significant differences up or down will be adjusted on the invoice. The shipping costs listed here are estimates only (not always including the insurance/delivery confirmation costs), as I do not package items until after the auction ends. DUE TO PAYPAL'S POLICIES, I NOW REQUIRE INSURANCE ON ALL PACKAGES VALUED OVER $25.00 (AND DELIVERY CONFIRMATION ON ALL USPS PACKAGES), AS WELL AS DELIVERY SIGNATURES ON ALL PACKAGES VALUED AT $250.00 AND HIGHER. THESE WILL BE ADDED WITH THE SHIPPING COSTS ON THE INVOICE.
INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS:
Please be aware that although both USPS first class and priority shipping may be listed in the calculator, all packages valued over $25 will need to be insured and only priority packages can be sent with insurance coverage. First class shipping is less expensive, and I will try to ship at the best rate possible, but often times the more expensive priority rate is the only one available when insurance coverage is needed.Mirrors for Sale

Chrysler design chief says Trump is full of it
Fri, 02 Nov 2012Chrysler design chief and SRT boss Ralph Gilles took to Twitter for a strongly worded rebuke of Donald Trump, telling the businessman he was "full of shit." Trump on Thursday repeated an erroneous Mitt Romney campaign claim that Jeep production was moving to China. Trump tweeted: “[President Barack] Obama is a terrible negotiator. He bails out Chrysler and now Chrysler wants to send all Jeep manufacturing to China—and will!” Gilles tweeted back: “You are full of shit!” Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne told employees in an email on Oct.
