Apple Carplay integrates iPhone in to cars: Geneva Motor Show
Mon, 03 Mar 2014Apple CarPlay arrives to take over your car’s Infotainment Apple’s bid to take a major slice of the Automotive integration with Smartphones market moves on with the arrival of Apple CarPlay at the Geneva Motor Show this week It looks like Apple have stolen a march on Android with deep integration in to the Infotainment systems of a number of car makers – with more to come – as the lines start to be blurred between Smartphones and car systems. CarPlay lets drivers with the right phone – iPhone 5 or better – access messages, play music, use Apple Maps and make calls, all hands-free and using Siri commands. Functionality with the right make of car – starting with Ferrari, Mercedes and Volvo but reaching out in to Jaguar Land Rover, BMW, Hyundai Kia, Honda, PSA, Toyota, Ford and more before long – means you’ll be able to do much of what you can already do on your iPhone but do it through your car’s Infotainment interface with familiar commands and screen layouts.

Sat, 19 May 2012The Lego Land Rover Defender A Lego building genius called Sheepo has built a perfect scale version of a Land Rover Defender 110 out of Lego. And it works. The odd ‘Castle’ or maybe an intricate wall was probably as far as any of us ever got with Lego, but a Lego building master calling himself Sheepo has put together an awe-ispiring scale model of a Land Rover Defender 110 built entirely out of the little plastic bricks (and some Lego extras).
Volkswagen Iroc concept
Mon, 28 Aug 2006The Iroc is a show car preview of a production coupe to be launched next year that will fill a gap in the Volkswagen model line up left by the demise of the Corrado 11 years ago. Volkswagen describe the Iroc as "transferring the globally successful Scirocco idea into the future" - the Scirocco Mk1 by Giugiaro being produced from 1974-1982, the Mk2 from 1982-1992. Like the Scirocco, the Iroc is a front wheel drive coupe with four seats - as opposed to the 2+2 seating arrangement of the only other sports coupe from Volkswagen Group: the Audi TT.
