It was considered the grand daddy of all flying air shows. Made up of mostly WWI ex-military flyers, it captivated crowds with daredevil flight performances, wing walking and parachuting demonstrations. My Grandfather began his aviation career barnstorming in a $250 war surplus Jenny and then later flying for the Gates Flying Circus. Orville Wright signed my grandfather's license, license number 1000. My father came along at a time my grandfather was buying surplus PT19s and Stearmans for a few hundred dollars. My father continued the passion for flying and owned dozens of aircraft over the years. My brother flew for Cole Palen's Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. In his last few days, my father's eyes twinkled when I brought some flying magazines to his bed side. In honor of my dad, I'm continuing our aviation heritage. Even the soft top performed properly, and the Audi TT RS was – and is – a mini Audi R8. So having got so much right with the latest TT – and having got so much wrong first time out – Audi have been understandably understated with tweaks to the TT.
Kia opens new Design Center America
Tue, 08 Jul 2008Kia Motors has opened its new Design Center America, located adjacent to the new US corporate headquarters in Irvine, California, about 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The opening ceremony of the new US 21.8-acre Kia Corporate campus was held on June 24 and was presided by Byung Mo Ahn, group president and CEO of Kia Motors America and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia. He was joined at the ceremony by both local and state representatives, as well as members of the media and guests.

It is very much uncharted territory for them. They’ve had success building ‘Garden Shed’ cars in the £50-75k range for a few years now, but to suddenly catapult themselves in to real supercar territory with a £200k supercar is a big leap of faith.
