Saab secures more funds as it seeks to avert collapse

Saab parent Swedish Automobiles has found another financial lifeline in China as the struggling carmaker faces possible legal action from unions over unpaid wages. In a statement this morning, Swedish Automobiles announced that an un-named Chinese firm has placed an order for 582 Saab vehicles, valued at 13 million Euro (£11.5m) with full pre-payment 'expected to be made this week'.  Saab plans to use the funds to pay wages and begin partial payments to component suppliers in order to restart production. What looks like a screen grab from Sin City is in fact our first official glimpse of the new Jaguar crossover. The jacked-up, coupe-like CX-17 is one of two new models on the way from Gaydon, the other being the ‘X760’-codenamed 3-series rivalling sports saloon. Argh, not another teaser picture… We don’t like them any more than you do, but in this case we’ll allow the Jaguar through the net.

Half of drivers try home fixes

ALMOST HALF of the UK’s drivers have tried to fix their car at home with help from an online video rather than take it to a garage. A study by breakeryard.com shows two-fifths of drivers use videos from websites such as Youtube to learn how to fix their car. The study also showed that more than half (54%) had also tried to fix their car at home to save money on repair bills.
