For sale is a vintage Motorola 700 Radio Receiver Box, Model #AS-190.  It was left behind by my late father in his radio supplies.  He was a radio and television repairman for much of his life, and frequently salvaged radio equipment.  This unit was packed in a box with a Motorola 800 radio unit, and was tucked away in storage.  I would guess it was working at the time he packed it away, because he had shelves of radios that were not packed away which he used for scavenging parts.  I had my husband remove the radio from the case so that I could photograph it.  It doesn't appear that parts are missing, but I will let you be the judge, since I know very little about radios.  And I have no knowledge of testing this old equipment, so I will have to sell it as-is.  Hopefully my photographs will tell you its condition.

There are wires attached, with connectors on the ends, which I've photographed for you.  I will leave them as photographed, but you must know that the wires themselves are in terrible shape and will need to be completely replaced.  In the second to last photo, I tried to catch a close-up of what appears to be a small schematic diagram.  But I know you can get a Photofact copy of the schematic diagram on line, if that isn't a diagram.

Anyway, I hope that this is a unit that you would like to use, or restore, for your vintage automobile.

Thanks for looking!!

Drivers 'concerned' by automatic speed limit technology

Sun, 03 Nov 2013

THREE QUARTERS of drivers say they are concerned about new technology that automatically changes the speed of a car. These Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA) systems are designed to force cars to drive within the speed limit and can automatically reduce a car’s speed without the driver’s input. The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) says 75% of drivers it asked thought ISA systems would compromise safety, while 78% did not want to see this technology retro-fitted to older cars.

Woken up to snow? Go grab a new Land Rover Freelander!

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

Land Rover want you to know that if you’ve woken up to snow – and you want a 4×4 now – the Freelander 2 Black & White is a stock car. There are times of the year when it’s cheaper to buy certain types of cars, and times of the year when they get a bit pricey. The height of the summer is the best time to grab an SUV and the depths of a snowy winter the best time to grab a soft top.

Hummer at the London motor show 2008

Wed, 23 Jul 2008

By By Gavin Green and CAR reader reporter Sandy T Motor Shows 23 July 2008 00:58 If any stand at London's Excel exhibition centre lays claim to being the least in tune with the zeitgeist, Hummer's must be up there. GM's military spec brand has only sold 128 cars in the UK so far this year, but it's present and correct at the motor show. What’s new on Hummer's London motor show stand?
