Up for bid is a vintage OEM 1940s-1960s VW Bosch Starter part # 113-911-021B in not working condition for repair or rebuilding (see PICs). This starter fits 1950-1966 T2 and 1946-1966 Beetle VWs. According to the previous owner at time of purchase, the starter did work when it was removed from a motor. However I can only get a 'spark' and no solenoid engaging activity when I connect it to a 6V power source and short across the solenoid connections. The starter armature does turn by hand and the gear on the end turns by hand as well (in the opposite direction). This starter is used and does show signs of use, wear and age (see PICs). This starter was purchased at an estate sale in southern California a few years ago where many VW items from the 50s thru 80s were offered. This item is being listed based on information received from the seller and my Internet research. Please feel free to ask any questions or request more PICs or measurements. Please note that the item in the PIC is the exact item you will receive. Buyer will pay a shipping fee for USPS Parcel Post Mail with delivery confirmation and insurance based on your location – Canada residents shipping fee will be based on International Priority Mail as parcel post service is not available. Payments by Paypal will ship 2nd business day after payment confirmation received. Don’t have a Paypal account ?  Contact me for other payment options. Worldwide shipping also available - please e-mail me for an International shipping quote before bidding. Good luck bidding !!!

Million Dollar Fiat: 1953 Zagato Fiat 8V Elaborata

Mon, 25 Jul 2011

Fiat's first, and only, V8 engine debuted at the 1952 Geneva Auto Show powering a sleek two-seater intended to dominate Ferrari, Maserati and Lancia in two-liter sports-car racing. The car was designated the 8V, or Otto Vu in Italian, because Fiat had mistakenly thought that Ford held a trademark on V8. Fiat's legendary design engineer Dante Giacosa mounted the upper portions of a pair of 70-degree V4 engines on a single crankcase to make the 1996-cc, OHV V8.
