This is a nice survivor GM Unity Spotlight. I am not sure what this came from. It is 12V. The light does work fine. The switch works fine. But the contact between the output of the switch and the Center conductor rod to the light is intermittent. There is a spring loaded contact from the switch that rides against the rod that goes along the inside shaft. It barely makes contact. I did not want to touch/modify it. It appears to be worn.I bypassed the switch to test the light and it works fine. The spotlight has the GM plate on the top. The chrome is very good for its age. The mounting brackets have some light pits. Overall it is very nice. It has an ivory colored knob. There are 2 minor creases on the back of the lamp. Please see pictures for a better idea. Ask any questions if you have a need for this part. Flat rate shipping applies to USA only. Please note that I will not ship international. Positive feedback left after payment. Thank you for looking and please keep those American classics running !

Need to report a POTHOLE? Government-backed App makes it easy There can’t be many motorists in the UK who haven’t fallen foul of our pitted and potholed roads (one of the Cars UK team had a £1500 suspension re-build bill last year), so anything we can do to point out what needs doing is a bonus. So the news that the government is backing an App to report potholes in the UK to the tune of £30,000 is good news (assuming the reported potholes get acted on).

Tesla Model S fire – are petrol or electric cars safer?

Tesla Tesla Model S fire – are petrol or electric cars safer? Last week, a Tesla Model S all-electric luxury car like that pictured above caught fire. Lithium-ion batteries – similar to those powering the Tesla – have developed something of a reputation for spontaneous combustion in recent years, including notable incidents involving not only mobile phones and laptop computers but also the Boeing Dreamliner ‘super jumbo’ passenger aircraft.

Lexus GS 300h: Shanghai Motor Show

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Offering much better economy than the GS 450h, it offers not only a viable alternative for private buyers looking for a bit of beautifully built Japanese luxury with lower running costs, but also makes the GS a much more appealing option for company car drivers – probably where most of the sales will be made. Lexus are aiming for Co2 emissions below 110g/km for the GS 300h (the IS 300h manages 99g/km) which will give headline economy around 60mpg – a third better than the GS 450h can manage. Power comes from the same hybrid drivetrain as the IS 300h, which means a 2.5 litre petrol mated to an electric motor and delivering 215bhp and o-62mph in around 8.5 seconds.
