The Hyundai ix-Metro Concept will be previewd at Frankfurt (click image for bigger photo) We already know that Hyundai will be taking the new ix35 / Tucson ix to Frankfurt, and now comes news that Hyundai have produced a mini crossover concept – the Hyundai ixMetro Concept - which will be presented at Frankfurt and go in to production in 2011. The ix-Metro features a 1.0 litre, 3-pot, turbo, direct injection petrol hybrid which delivers a very impressive 125 bhp. But it also manages to emit just 80g/km CO2.

Hyundai has opened a new flagship showroom in Romford, Essex, boasting the largest showroom of any UK Hyundai dealers. Deep in the heart of south Essex lies a golden triangle – bounded by Romford, Brentwood and Chigwell – where the wildlife sports orange plumage and fluorescent teeth and endless worker ants stream in to the great metropolis down the A12 to earn a crust in their daily grind. Sometimes a very ordinary car becomes something special, maybe even loved, but that's not always enough to keep it out of the jaws of the crusher. This is the story of a second-gen Toyota Tercel wagon (known in Japan as the Sprinter Carib) and its journey from auction to lumber-hauler to kid transportation to a Chinese steel factory. Around the turn of the century, while I was working at a doomed dot-com in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, I discovered that the city auctioned off all the unclaimed tow-away cars every week at nearby Pier 70.
