Vintage Sperry Gyroscope Co Gyro Compass Rotor Bearing Oil Can w Oil 42483

This Tin with oil is from the Sperry Gyroscope Company – a Division of Sperry Corporation in Great Neck, NY at the time.

Gyro Compass Rotor Bearing Oil . . . Part No. 42483

Seems like the can is maybe 40% full. The tin measures 6 ½” tall and 3” wide.

This is vintage . . . the Sperry Gyroscope Division has LONG been out of existence, and of course, Sperry Corp is now part of the Honeywell conglomerate.

I poured some of the oil out of the tin so you could see the color . . . it is a beautiful amber color and is in clean condition and flows easily . . .

Not sure of all the applications for the oil, of course, oiling a ship’s Gyro Compass would be one of them. I purchased this at an estate sale of a gentleman that used it for precision watches and clocks.

After you have used the remaining oil it would be great for display for the Sperry collector!

Autos to overtake manuals

Wed, 28 Feb 2007

By Jack Carfrae Motor Industry 28 February 2007 07:39 Automatic transmissions will finally overtake manuals as the top-selling gearbox choice in 2007. Autos have been long established as the more popular option Stateside and in Japan, but it seems that Europe has now finally caught the two-pedal bug. With the ever-increasing popularity of semi-automatic gearboxes (Tiptronic, DSG, CVT and a whole flood of other acronyms), it isn’t hard to see why.
