It is so hard to photograph chrome - let's just get this out there!

I shot this vintage VW hub cap twice trying to depict it true to it condition. I am thinking that my textual description will assist you in describing its true form.

There is some some rust on the front. It has some dents. The chrome is flaking and there is rusting underneath. Please look closely at the photos.

The upshot of this is that it has such a classic look. Maybe the imperfections can be fixed to some extent. If not, it still has appeal.

It is really a nice piece of automobile history.

Size: 10 inches W by 1 1/2 inches D

Mazda's rotary spins to its 40th

Thu, 31 May 2007

By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 31 May 2007 02:03 Mazda yesterday celebrated 40 years of making rotary engines. Rotary engines came to prominence in the 1950s as manufacturers experimented with turbine engines, but most admitted defeat in the face of technical difficulties and the inherent thirst of rotary units.

Cars today have evolved and been refined to an extraordinary degree, but carmakers – and car designers – are still always looking for ‘the next big thing'. Yet despite a myriad of recent technical innovations, ask the man on the street what is the problem with cars of today, and he'll likely reply along the lines of "they all look the same". Mass production processes, packaging requirements and safety and regulatory constraints are just a few of the reasons why it is hard to make a car that looks truly different.

2013 SEAT Toledo price from £12,495

Thu, 04 Oct 2012

The new SEAT Toledo – sister car to the new Skoda Rapid – will cost from £12,495 when it arrives in the UK in early 2013. When SEAT told us about the new Toledo in June they said it would arrive first in the Iberian peninsula (which makes sense) at the end of 2012 before rolling out in Mexico, Turkey and Germany. But no mention of the UK.
