Viper SmartStart VSS5X10

Digital remote start and security system with GPS

Remote start your engine and set the alarm with your car's remote

Viper's SmartStart VSS5X10 GPS remote start and security system lets you start your vehicle remotely by pressing the lock button on the key three times. The VSS5X10 incorporates a digital interface that communicates directly with your vehicle's computer to bypass the normal security safeguards, so you can take control from a distance. You can pre-warm your car in the winter and pre-cool it in summer so it'll be just right when you get in. Once you install this system, you'll be able to use your car's remote to start your car and arm/disarm the security system from the usual distance, or use your smartphone to control those functions from hundreds of miles away.

Important Note: Because of safety concerns, we strongly recommend professional installation for remote start systems in vehicles with manual transmissions.

Security features include Starter Kill to prevent hot-wiring, a loud 6-tone siren that'll catch everyone's attention, a dual-shock sensor that warns first and then sets off the alarm, and a LED indicator that tells strangers there's a security system aboard. The valet switch lets someone park your car without setting off your system.

Like a lot of security systems, the Viper SmartStart also includes a panic button, so you can set off an alarm in case of an emergency. Two auxiliary channels allow you to turn on the dome light, open the windows, or control other additional actions.

The VSS5X10's SmartStart GPS Module lets you use your smartphone or similar device to locate, secure, start your vehicle, and much more. Once you're connected to the Cloud via the Viper SmartStart App, you'll be able to lock and unlock your doors, pop the trunk, or start the car. If your device has Internet service, you can communicate with your car and can control many of its functions remotely, even if you're hundreds of miles away.

The VSS5X10 uses Verizon CDMA/3G technology to communicate with the Cloud, giving you wide national coverage, fast response times, and low power consumption anywhere in the United States (no service in Canada).

The SmartStart GPS app can show you your car's location, display your vehicle's speed, and alert you if that speed gets too high. With one click, Social Media Check-in lets you share your parking location with your Facebook friends. You can set up a SmartFence around your car that alerts you if the car leaves that area, and create a HotSpot that alerts you if the car enters a forbidden zone. SmartSchedule, another feature in the GPS Premium service, sends you behavior-based reminders when it's time to start your car, taking into account your commute time and outside temperature.

The Viper SmartStart app displays a background image that shows you what the weather's like at your location. For your peace of mind, the Vehicle Status screen shows you whether your car's locked, armed, running, or has a door open. If anything disturbs your car's security system, SmartStart will send an alert to your phone and a text message with the details of the occurrence.

Every time you use your phone to lock your car, the SmartPark feature remembers where you parked. The Parking Meter keeps track of the time remaining on your meter, alerting you when it's time to feed it more coins. To return, you press "Find My Car" and SmartPark shows you a map to your car accompanied by any helpful notes or photos you stored there.

Smart fortwo Edition Limited Three

Mercedes has had stick in the past for playing with its ‘Toy Car’, the Smart. What was a quality maker like Mercedes doing involved with a car the size of the boot on an S Class Mercedes and named after a watch maker (the name stands for Swatch Mercedes Art)? Don’t get me wrong; there was always going to be a market for a car designed to park ‘nose-in’ in busy European streets, but its seemed like Mercedes was stretching itself too thin at a time when it was suffering a big loss in the reputation it had for building high-quality machinery.

Subaru Impreza

Thu, 14 Apr 2011

Following on from the Impreza concept that debuted at L.A last year, the all new Subaru Impreza, set to be unveiled at New York looks set to retain most of the concepts attributes. Subaru have officially 'teased' this side profile shot of the car, showing that the concepts pronounced arches, DLO and surfacing seems to have made the transition to production model, relatively unscathed. Subaru have been relatively scarce with information on the new model, other than to say that the new design results in a roomier cabin, with new level of comfort and refinement.
