Viper SmartStart VSS5X10

Digital remote start and security system with GPS

Remote start your engine and set the alarm with your car's remote

Viper's SmartStart VSS5X10 GPS remote start and security system allows many vehicles to start remotely by pressing the lock button on the key three times. It is IMPERATIVE that you select this link below to see if your vehicle qualifies for 3X Starting from the factory remote and also will show if the sometimes needed DEI MC501 will be required.

The VSS5X10 incorporates a digital interface that communicates directly with your vehicle's computer to bypass the normal security safeguards, so you can take control from a distance. You can pre-warm your car in the winter and pre-cool it in summer so it'll be just right when you get in. Once you install this system, you'll be able to use your car's remote to start your car and arm/disarm the security system from the usual distance, or use your smartphone to control those functions from hundreds of miles away.

Important Note: Because of safety concerns, we strongly recommend professional installation for remote start systems in vehicles with manual transmissions.

Security features include Starter Kill to prevent hot-wiring, a loud 6-tone siren that'll catch everyone's attention, a dual-shock sensor that warns first and then sets off the alarm, and a LED indicator that tells strangers there's a security system aboard. The valet switch lets someone park your car without setting off your system.

Like a lot of security systems, the Viper SmartStart also includes a panic button, so you can set off an alarm in case of an emergency. Two auxiliary channels allow you to turn on the dome light, open the windows, or control other additional actions.

The VSS5X10's SmartStart GPS Module lets you use your smartphone or similar device to locate, secure, start your vehicle, and much more. Once you're connected to the Cloud via the Viper SmartStart App, you'll be able to lock and unlock your doors, pop the trunk, or start the car. If your device has Internet service, you can communicate with your car and can control many of its functions remotely, even if you're hundreds of miles away.

The VSS5X10 uses Verizon CDMA/3G technology to communicate with the Cloud, giving you wide national coverage, fast response times, and low power consumption anywhere in the United States (no service in Canada).

The Viper SmartStart app displays a background image that shows you what the weather's like at your location. For your peace of mind, the Vehicle Status screen shows you whether your car's locked, armed, running, or has a door open. If anything disturbs your car's security system, SmartStart will send an alert to your phone and a text message with the details of the occurrence.

Every time you use your phone to lock your car, the SmartPark feature remembers where you parked. The Parking Meter keeps track of the time remaining on your meter, alerting you when it's time to feed it more coins. To return, you press "Find My Car" and SmartPark shows you a map to your car accompanied by any helpful notes or photos you stored there.

That's right. If you have Siri, you can talk your car into doing all kinds of things, as long as you have phone service. SmartStart works with all iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices, select Android devices, as well as Apple and Android smartwatches. The Home Control feature even allows you to access and control your Alarm.com-powered home security system from your smartphone, so you'll know your home is safe and sound while you're away.

Sound Wholesalers carries a wide selection of vehicle installation harnesses for a wide variety of vehicles, which will allow for a much faster installation of this Viper SmartStart system, simply message us at the time of purchase your year, make & model and weather or not you have push to start.

Have your Shelby Mustang GT350 or GT500 Super Snake shipped for free

Wed, 20 Jul 2011

Shelby American is adding a little incentive to pick up one of its one-off Ford Mustang creations: Buyers won’t have to pay shipping on the 2012 Shelby GT350 and the 2007-12 Shelby GT500 Super Snake--as long as they order by July 31. Depending on where a buyer lives, that could be a savings of up to $1,500. For the uninitiated, Shelby American revamps almost everything mechanical on the Ford Mustang to create the GT350, including front and rear suspension, brakes and intake and exhaust systems.

Ford C-Max and Mondeo spotted in Detroit

Mon, 26 Mar 2012

Detroiter Spencer Abbott spotted a couple of Euro Fords out cruising the boulevards of suburban Detroit this weekend. Like a good Autoweek reader, he snapped a few photos as soon as it could be done safely. The C-Max can be easily explained, as Ford plans to start selling the little people mover stateside this fall.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 details leak, and it's going to have 620 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

We won't get a complete look at the specs of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 until it makes its official debut at the upcoming Detroit auto show, but a web coding blooper means we get a sneak peak at some of its vital stats before the reveal. Specifically, it's set to get 620 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque -- a big boost over the 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque the base 'Vette enjoys. How did this happen?
